Updates from training camp

Shahar is updating from her training camp in Johannesburg, South Africa. "I am currently writing you from Johannesburg, South Africa. I am here at a training camp for a month towards the 2009 season. This is my first time in South Africa..."

Looking Towards 2009

After going over her options, Shahar has decided to start working with the coach Pablo Giacopelli. Shahar will fly to training camp in South Africa with Giacopelli this week. She will be accompanied by her physical trainer, Muli Epstein.

Shahar will not participate in Zurich or Luxemburg

As a result of an infection in the base of her foot (Plantar Faciitis) that began in the Beijing Olympics, Shahar's doctor has instructed her to rest and get treatment on her foot for the next month. Therefore, she must give up her last two tournaments of the year (Zurich and Luxemburg) and finish the season. Shahar will rest and recover and after that will begin to prepare for the 2009 season.

Tokyo, 2008

Shahar will be playing in Tokyo, Japan This week. This is a tier 3 tournament. Shahar is seeded 6 and will play in the first round against the 38 year old Kimiko Date.

Seoul 2008

Shahar played in the Seoul, South Korea tournament this week. This is a tier 4 tournament. Shahar lost in the quarterfinals against Craybas, ranked 70 in the world.

Tokyo 2008

Shahar will be playing in the prestigious tournament in Tokyo, Japan this week. This is a Tier 1 tournament, and there are only 28 players in the draw. Shahar will play her first round against Flavia Pennetta, ranked 16 in the world.

US Open, 2008

Shahar will play this week in the last grand slam of the year in NY. In the first round Shahar lost to the Chinese Na Li ranked 36 in the world. shahar will play also doubles and mix doubles.

Beijing Olympics, 2008

For the first time Shahar will participate in the Olympic games. The Tennis games will start August 10. In the second round, Shahar lost to the 11th ranked player in the world Zvonareva.Shahar's next tournament is the U.S.Open. Montreal, 2008

Shahar Peer is playing this week in Montreal, Canada. The Montreal tournament is a tier I level with total prize money of 1.3 million Dollars. Shahar won her 1st round match against the German Sabine Lisicki, 6-3, 6-4. Lisicki is ranked 81 in the world.

Los Angeles, 2008

Shahar Pe'er is playing in the LA tournament this week. This is a tier II level tournament. In the 1st round, Shahar is up against the Australian Samantha Stosur, ranked 87 in the world.
